Christmas and New Year with the BSO!

Christmas and New Year with the BSO!

About

Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without a festive concert by the BSO so why not join us in some musical magic and sparkle! We have something for all ages and all tastes from family favourites and traditional classics to an evening of seasonal treats in the company of a full symphony orchestra.

Messiah, Wednesday 13 December
We are back with Handel's ever-popular oratorio. Since 1742, The Messiah has secured itself in the Christmas calendar. Retelling the story of Christ it is heaped full of beautiful arias including He was Despised and Rejected and I Know that My Redeemer Liveth and rousing choruses like For Unto Us a Child is Born and the ever-popular Hallelujah Chorus.
Rob Howarth, conductor; Bournemouth Symphony Chorus; Sophie Bevan; Catherine Wyn-Rogers; Guy Cutting; Ashley Riches

Last Night of the Christmas Proms, Saturday 16 December
The ultimate musical Christmas cracker, our ever-popular festive concert of hits is back with an overflowing bundle of musical treats including Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, all wrapped up with a sprinkling of magic and sparkle. You just can't beat a bit of Cliff Richard, Bing Crosby or Slade!
Tom Fetherstonhaugh, conductor

Celebration of Christmas Carols, Saturday 23 December
It just isn't Christmas without our traditional carols sing-along. Join us for a seasonal spread of Yuletide treats and classic carols old and new, including God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, O Come All Ye Faithful and Good King Wenceslas.
Gavin Carr, conductor; Bournemouth Symphony Chorus; Bournemouth Symphony Youth Chorus

New Year's Day Viennese Gala, Monday 1 January
Ring in the New Year in style with Chief Conductor Kirill Karabits as we celebrate the music of Johann Strauss, his contemporaries and musical treats from Kirill's home country of Ukraine. The full symphonic forces of the BSO bring you an afternoon of swirling melodies to carry you away into the glamour and sparkle of Viennese Dance Halls, with a host of marches, polkas and waltzes.
Kirill Karabits, conductor; Ruslana Lotsman, singer

Please see our website for information about our festive concerts at other venues across the South West.
