Sea Music Sculpture
About
Sea Music is an internationally important sculpture that has stood on the Quay near Poole Museum since 1991. It was created by Anthony Caro, one of Britain’s greatest sculptors and it is the only site-specific public sculpture by the artist in the UK. The design brings together the cascading waves and the sails of the boats in the harbour and echoes the sound of the sea.
Commissioned by Poole Arts Council and gifted by the sculptor to the town of Poole as a thank you (he enjoyed many holidays in the area) the sculpture is of international importance. As a work of modern art it has a significant place in Britain's recent artistic and cultural heritage.
