Poole plays hosts to an incredible array of talents and performances at its theatres every year. With a number of venues dotted in and around the area you are spoilt for choice when looking to indulge yourself in some of the south coasts best performing arts

The Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts

The Lighthouse was opened in 1978 and is a unique venue as it’s the only venue in the South West with four auditoria and one of the largest outside of London.  It holds a wide variety of art forms including national theatre, dance, music, circus and films and it’s the home to Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

The theatre caters for young and old.  So, if it’s settling down to watch Gangster Granny with your family, an evening of laughter with a friend watching your favourite comedian or a serious play with your partner you will find a wonderful choice at the Lighthouse.

They are also engaged heavily in the community, working with schools encouraging careers in theatre and putting on backstage tours as well as entertainment for the wider community by offering dementia-friendly screenings.

You can also relax in one of their bars or cafes before or after your show.

In the neighbouring town of Bournemouth you can also find a variety of performance venues including Bournemouth International Centre, Pavilion Theatre and Shelley Theatre.  As well as inspiring dance at Pavilion Dance South West.
