Christmas in Poole centres around the beautiful and historic Poole Quay, the winding and eclectic High Street with its mix of shops and cafes and right up to Falkland Square and into the Dolphin Centre. Let's also not forget the wonderful cultural centre which is Lighthouse and always brings a festive cheer with Christmas entertainment.
At Christmas the streets will be filled with the sounds of music and choirs from pop up events, and the twinkling of Christmas lights throughout the town will cast a magical glow. The elves say that 2023 will be a fantastic year to visit Poole! Poole was made for Christmas and the lights provide the boutiques, coffee shops, pubs and cafes with a distinctly Dickensian feel.
The Poole Christmas Maritime Light Trail goes into its second year, and takes place from Saturday 25 November 2023 – Tuesday 2 January 2024. It features dazzling illuminations and installations that weave through Poole Town Centre from Falkland Square, along the High Street and down to Poole Quay. There’ll also be a range of Christmas entertainment so look out for updates on our channels and get ready to celebrate Poole’s maritime history with a modern twist!
The event is supported by Poole BID. Find out more about Poole Christmas Maritime Light Trail.

This charity focussed event involves crews crafting unique vessels and racing them along the quay from The Customs House Steps to the Lord Nelson. Every year, rain or shine, crowds of hundreds turn up to cheer on crews as they race to raise money for a good cause. This whacky event is the perfect way to start the New Year as it is an event built on goodwill that isn't afraid to have a bit of fun.
On New Year's Day, there will be a display of up to 100 classic vehicles of any nationality that must have been registered before the modern style registration number plates came into being in September 2001. The vehicles will be displayed from the Sea Music sculpture, where the Lower High Street joins the Quay, eastwards to the Poole Quay Hotel. Vehicles will be on display from 10:00 until 12:30.
