About

From 15th - 22nd June, BEAF Arts brings brand new exhibitions, performances, music and activities to Boscombe, highlighting National Refugee Week and National Windrush Day. Expect to see the high street transformed as we celebrate Caribbean carnival culture with a new flag commission produced by artist Kemba Earle, whose designs are also mirrored also in our colourful Arts Pavilion, located on the precinct.
The Art Pavilion provides a space for free daily creative workshops open to all, with activities beginning on Saturday 15th. Culminating on National Windrush Day (Saturday 22nd), we complete the week with a day of free music, dance, performance, and workshops, as well as Caribbean food provided by local vendors.
Our exhibition, Journeys of Resilience, created in collaboration with our diasporic communities in Boscombe, will be held in Boscombe Arts Depot (B.A.D.). The exhibition includes work produced by descendants of the Windrush generation as well as participants of our weekly Seeking Refugee Project. Postcards created during workshops held in local schools, led by Afro-Caribbean artists, will also be included in the gallery space, as well as an educational reading corner in which visitors can learn more about the Windrush Story and contribute to the exhibition with their own thoughts on migration and home.
This project has been made possible by funding from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Bournemouth Coastal Lottery, and Bournemouth Coastal Bid.

Road Directions

You can reach us via the A35 and Ashley Road. We would recommend parking in the Sovereign Centre Car Park, from which you can follow directions to the high street where you'll find the main entrance, opposite Costa.

Public Transport Directions

If you are coming by bus, take the M2 bus and get off near Boscanova if coming from Southbourne, or next to Aldi if coming from Poole and Bournemouth. Walk along the high-street and please come to the main entrance at B.A.D., directly opposite Costa, where you will also find the Arts Pavilion.

Pokesdown for Boscombe train station is a 15-20 minute walk to B.A.D. and the Arts Pavilion. Turning right out of the station, walk straight down Christchurch Road until you reach Marvo Mysteries Escape Room, where you will cross over onto the pedestrianised precinct and continue walking past Boscanova to B.A.D.
