Royal British Legion Poppies Installation

Royal British Legion Poppies Installation

About

Over Armistice weekend the West Front of the Cathedral will be illuminated by The Royal British Legion Poppies installation, a gigantic colour projection of 'tumbling poppies' that will run over four nights from Thursday 8th to Sunday 11th November, marking the centenary of the end of World War 1.

The Royal British Legion are inviting the public to take part in a movement to say 'Thank You' to the First world War generation who served, sacrificed and changed our world.

The Royal British Legion (RBL) was formed on 15 May 1921, bringing together four national organisations that ex-Servicemen had established after the First World War. The main purpose of the Legion was straightforward: to care for those who had suffered as a result of wartime service with the Armed Forces, whether through their own service or through that of a husband, father or son. Today The Royal British Legion looks after serving soldiers and veterans, as well as their families.
