The Pasadena Roof Orchestra - 50th Anniversary Tour

Pasadena Roof orchestra all together for a photo

About

The UK’s finest dance band playing music from the roaring 1920s and elegant 1930s will be celebrating 50 years in 2019. A concert from the Pasadena Roof orchestra is a complete show, as Brendan Murphy from Bristol 365 wrote in a review from April 8th, 2018

‘There is a reason why they call these songs timeless and listening to them performed with such fine and faultless musicianship really was like a wonderfully indulgent, wistful trip down memory lane.’

Not just a show with music, but some delightful tomfoolery is in store with Band Leader Duncan Galloway and his musical comrades performing an impressive program of music from the dance band era. Included will be the songs of Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, plus some classic tunes from Louis Armstrong, and sumptuous arrangements from the likes of Duke Ellington and his orchestra, plus songs from the great British bands Ray Noble, and Ambrose. Come along and listen to hits that were sung by Bing Crosby, Al Bowlly and Fred Astaire (plus some dancing!).

The Pasadena Roof Orchestra was founded by John Arthy in 1969. As a young bandleader John had the good fortune to discover 1500 arrangements from the 1920s and 1930s lying dormant in an attic in Manchester. The Orchestra’s unique style, attention to musical detail, and relentless sense of fun soon became a hit not only in the UK, but far and beyond. The Orchestra has toured the USA five times to critical acclaim, have appeared at the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, travelled to Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kiev, and performed at the Albert Hall in London.  They have played every number one concert house in Germany and continue to tour in Europe and the UK on a regular basis.

Take an opportunity to lose yourself in a bygone era, listen to a live dance band - ‘an audaciously entertaining collective of music-making crowd pleasing legends’
