Lighthouse: OUTSIDE - Cloudscapes

A group of people camped outside in the daytime

About

Missing Lighthouse? Trust us, we are too.

So we thought, if we can’t perform indoors, then we’ll go outside…

Pack a picnic, bring your friends and family and enjoy four unforgettable weekends of live theatre, music, comedy (for the grown ups and for kids) and more.

Set in the amphitheatre to the side of Lighthouse, become immersed in this outdoor theatrical experience, with a great view of some of the best artists and musicians taking part.  You'll be seated on the grass, so please feel free to bring your own chairs, picnic rug, blankets and cushions to sit on. Completing your outdoor experience, our Studio bar will be open, so you can grab a refreshment and sit back and enjoy live performance once again.

Please book your tickets in advance online.  We can't wait to see you again soon.

Gobbledegook Theatre - Cloudscapes

Originally cmmissioned by Activate in 2016 for the Inside Out Dorset festival, Cloudscapes was created by Lorna Rees of Gobbledegook Theatre a duologue for performer and clouds. Audiences lie on beanbags and contemplate the ever-changing parade of clouds above them while listening on headphones as Lorna tells a story laced with clouds that’s based on a personal journey of a lifetime she took with her father.

“If people drift off and fall asleep I take it as the most enormous compliment,” says the Christchurch-based artist.

An uplifting, reflective experience, afterwards audiences visit the Cloud Box, a converted horsebox where Lorna displays artworks and ephemera that relate not only to clouds, but also to her family story.

“I find Cloudscapes incredibly emotional,” she adds. “I have cried every time I’ve performed it. At the end people come and hug me and talk to me about it, it’s very moving.”

Cloudscapes is a free event and will run from 11am to 3.15pm to allow visitors to book a ticket and experince the day..

How will it work and where to find us

Lighthouse:OUTSIDE performances take place to the side of our building. Opening 30 minutes before each show. Our friendly team will scan your tickets on arrival – just print them or have the PDF ready on your phone.

We’ll be seating household and social bubbles at a social distance for the performance. Please make sure your booking is for your household/social bubble only. This will give us an idea of how many picnics/groups we will have. If you want to book for someone else who isn’t in your household/social bubble, that’s fine. Just book for your household and then book their tickets as a new transaction.

Lighthouse: OUTSIDE will take place outdoors, in all weathers, so please dress appropriately. We won’t allow umbrellas on-site as they block sight lines – but ponchos and raincoats can be rather fetching. You can also bring your own picnic as long as you promise to take your rubbish when you go!

Keeping You Safe

This show is outside at Lighthouse and the audience will be socially distanced with safety measures in place so you can relax and enjoy yourself.

We have done everything we can to make sure you are safe and would ask that you do the same for us. We are putting together a handy set of answers to any questions about our saftey measures which we will publish very soon and will send you a link before you join us outside.
