The Dolphin Shopping Centre supports National Volunteer Week

The Dolphin Shopping Centre has teamed up with Poole Volunteer Centre in aid of National Volunteer Week, which takes place from 6 to 10 June.

To support the cause the Dolphin Centre has provided an empty unit in Kingland Crescent throughout the week that will be occupied by various local charities and non-profit organisations, to educate the public in the importance of volunteering and their respective local volunteering opportunities.

Organisations in attendance include; Waggy Tails, Victim Support, Dorset Blind Association, Brownsea Island National Trust, Guide Dogs, Dorset Rape Crises and British Red Cross, amongst others.

Gillian Harris, broker at Poole Volunteer Centre, said: “This is a great opportunity for the public to find out more information about the local opportunities available to them. We hope that this ongoing event will encourage people to support the organisations that care for their community. We are appreciative of the support of the Dolphin Shopping Centre; the unit helps us to directly communicate with the local community about volunteering.”

John Grinnell, centre manager of the Dolphin Shopping Centre, added: “We’re proud to be able to support Poole Volunteer Centre and participate in National Volunteer Week. We recognise that volunteering hours can be just as valuable to charities and non-profit organisations, as cash donations.”

Different organisations will be occupying the pop-up shop at 26 Kingland Crescent every day of National Volunteer Week, split between the morning and afternoon shifts. At this time they will be providing information and giving people the opportunity to ask questions.
