From warming walks and beachside retreats to coastal cruises and spectacular wildlife, Poole has plenty to share with friends, family or that special someone this February.

1. Recharge your batteries with beachside walks, uninterrupted views and an ever changing scene.  Wild weather or winter sun, it’s perfect for clearing your head without the crowds.

Get close to a wealth of wildlife as Poole Harbour provides the perfect backdrop for a stunning winter spectacle including the largest winter flock of Avocet in the UK.  Birds flock to the woods and walks of Upton Country Park with stunning sunsets and starling acrobatics creating magnificent murmurations over the RSPB Arne, home of BBC2’s Winterwatch link will open in new window.  And you don’t need to be an expert to see all the winter action with friendly guided walks and bird boat cruises

3. Snuggle up in a cozy cottage, beachside hotel or stay in a friendly B&B with glorious breakfasts and great local knowledge.

4. Gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, explore the jewels of the UK’s coastline such as Lulworth Cove, just a stone’s throw away.

5. With a local fishing fleet, stunning seasonal seafood is landed in Poole each day. February sees fabulous flat fish as Plaice and Dover Sole top the list. With mackerel, lobster, crab and mussels also on the menu, Poole’s restaurants such as the quayside’s Poole Arms, the Guildhall Tavern based in Poole’s Old Town plus Rick Stein Sandbanks and The Point at the Haven Hotel on the famous Sandbanks peninsular, all make the most of the bounty.  Cooks can check out the latest recipes from Rick Stein.

8.  Book a night to remember with great theatre, live music and comedy at Lighthouse, the largest centre for the arts on the South Coast.  February sees Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers, West End hit The Play that Goes Wrong and Sue Perkins Live plus concerts from Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Abba Mania and the Illegal Eagles.
