About

The Poole Festival of Running will take place in Poole Park on Sunday 9th June with charity relays to delight all standards of runner.

Last held in 2019, the Festival has staged races for thousands of competitors over the years and is back in June with relays for teams of four running a 5km course around Poole Park.

The course will be fast and flat around a traffic-free park. Medals will be awarded to all finishers and prizes to the winning teams and fastest individual legs.

The event will raise money for the Poole Hospital NHS Charity.

Andy Howse, Race Director, said: "Relay races add a different and exciting dynamic to competitive running. This event will suit teams of seasoned runners, occasional runners, work colleagues, friends and families. Poole Runners is excited to be staging what should be a fantastic local event and to be raising money for the Poole Hospital NHS Charity."

On line entries will open at 9am on Wednesday 3rd April and close at 9pm on Saturday 25th May. No entries on the day.

The Poole Festival of Running is organised by Poole Runners and was held for 22 consecutive years from 1997 until 2019. It raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity over that period.

This year's event is the first Festival of Running since the pandemic and will be one of the only relays to be held in the area this summer.

The minimum competitor age is 14 on race day.

Poole Runners is an athletics club formed in 1982 and based at the Junction Sports & Leisure Centre in Broadstone. The club has over 500 members and includes flourishing senior and junior sections.
