The Pavilion Summer Youth Theatre School

Orange light up shot of Summer Theatre School

About

Now in it's 7th Year, 2019 see’s the return of the successful Pavilion Summer Youth Theatre School.

This summer, why not take part in an 8 day long series of workshops based in the Pavilion Ballroom, aimed at improving your musical theatre skills. The workshops will centre on singing, acting, dancing, performance techniques and general stage craft.

During the 8 days, the children will have a fun-filled day of Adventure at one of BH Lives leisure centres. There will also be a range of fun sporting activities to fill this team away day.

At the end of the week, we put all of that hard work into two staged performances in front of a live audience in the Pavilion Ballroom.

The Summer School is about getting children involved in performing whatever their experience or ability. We aim to give the children an energetic, fun-filled week, learning songs and routines from a variety of well known West End and Broadway musicals and then performing in the show itself. Its also a chance for children to spend time with others who love singing, dancing and acting.

PYT is a dynamic youth theatre open to all young people aged 6 – 18 years, giving each member the opportunity to develop their artistic creativity in a safe and nurturing environment. Saturday workshops take place at the Bournemouth Pavilion, led by experienced, professional theatre practitioners. PYT is a youth theatre with a difference, we are all about acting. We place a great emphasis on the importance of the ensemble and aim to develop a diverse range of drama skills whilst encouraging self-expression, confidence and team work. PYT sessions cover a range of theatrical skills such as Characterisation, Improvisation, Mask work and Movement skills just to name a few! All members of PYT are given performance opportunities throughout the year. As well as our yearly production at The Bournemouth Pavilion, we like to end each term with a sharing of devised work.  As an Arts Award accredited organisation, students have the opportunity to complete a Bronze and Silver Arts Award.

PYT is open to everyone from beginners to experienced performers! No auditions necessary, we even offer a FREE taster session to ensure that PYT is the right place for you.
