Join us for some Spooky Fun for all the family, this half term at Lulworth Castle. With a whole host of activities to keep you and your little ones entertained! Wander through the Spooky Basement. Meet Merlin and get creative at the Craft Table. Explore the Park and woods with your Quiz Book on our special Spooky Trails. Enjoy Pitch 'n Putt & Lawn Games in the shadow of the Castle, get back to nature and play in the leaf pile or you can jump around on the Bouncy Castle (outside, age 7+, weather permitting). We also have a soft play area for the littler monsters!

Suitably spooky refreshments will be available at the Spooky Castle Tearoom and at the Pop-Up Café in the Courtyard.

Open Daily from Sun 27 Oct – Weds 30 Oct. The creepy creaking castle doors open at 10.30am and will slam shut at 5pm. Last entry one hour before closing. Free Parking.

Spooky Fun FAQs

Do we pay for car parking?
Car parking is free of charge on Spooky Fun event days.

Can we bring our dog?
Yes, you can. Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds but not inside the castle itself. Only assistance dogs are allowed into Lulworth Castle, the Chapel and Church.

Can we bring a picnic?
Yes you can, there are picnic benches on the castle lawn and in the woodland.

Is there food available?
The castle tearooms has scones, cakes, hot and cold drinks ice-creams and snacks (sausage rolls) and we have a pop up café in the courtyard offering hot light snacks/lunches.

Is everything included in the price?
All activities are included in the price, there is a gingerbread house sweetshop in the woods for the little trick or treaters to purchase a treat for £1.

Where do we claim our quiz book prizes?
At the castle front doors, we have non-edible prizes as well as lollipops.

My child isn't old enough for the bouncy castle can they still go on?
Yes they can, for their safety we offer a 'tiny bounce' session on the hour every hour.

What happens if it rains?
The event is spread across the park with indoor and outdoor activities so bring your wellies in case of rain and enjoy splashing in the puddles.

What is there to do?
We have a range of activities from themed lawn games including golf & croquet, grass maze, arts & crafts, trails around the castle & park, magician meet and greet, spooky disco, spooky castle to explore, bouncy castle (weather permitting), under 4's soft play room and the creepy zombie apocalypse for the older (& braver) ones!

What time do you open?
Doors open at 10.30am and last entry is 4pm.

Do I need to book online?
We recommend booking in advance for fast track entry but you are welcome to purchase tickets on the day. Online presales close at 4pm the night before for the following day.

Road Directions

From Bournemouth: take the A35 towards Dorchester, turning left onto the A351 towards Wareham. From the by-pass turn onto the A352 signposted to Wool. Now follow the brown signs for Lulworth Castle, which is on the B3070. From Dorchester: from the by-pass take the A352 signposted for Wool and Wareham. At Wool follow the brown signs to the Castle, which is on the B3070.

Public Transport Directions

By Train The nearest train stations are Wool and Wareham. These are on the South West Train Line route, on the main service which runs between London Waterloo and Weymouth. You will need to book a taxi from either of those stations to get to Lulworth Castle. By Taxi Garrison Taxis (Telephone number 01929 463395 and free phone 0800 666666) offer eight and seven seaters plus wheelchair access vehicles. Please advise them of your requirements when booking. By Bus There is a regular bus service to and from Dorchester (Door to Dorset 103 service) usually operating a low floor accessible vehicle. This route connects with the local train station at Wool, the main Weymouth – Waterloo line. From Wool Railway station the X53 service is available, this service runs daily including public holidays and is a coastal route stopping at many villages and towns including Poole, Wareham, Weymouth, Abbotsbury, Burton Bradstock, Bridport, Charmouth, Seaton, Beer and Exeter. Services vary throughout the year for further information please call the Bus Transport Traveline on 0870 608 2608 or National Rail Enquiries 08457 484950.
