Beer and Bluegrass Festival

Beer and Bluegrass Festival 2019.

About

The Beer and Bluegrass Festival is now in its fifth year, attracting top quality Bluegrass, Americana and Roots music acts from across the world. Closing night 'Jams' feature many artists joining together on stage, singing and playing 'Bluegrass Style' around a single microphone to close each evening. The results are breath-taking and totally unique, adding a very special atmosphere to the Festival.

The Festival is set in the secluded grounds of Victoria School with the main stage set within a natural amphitheatre, surrounded by woodland and with the stunning 'Claremont' a Victorian convent in the foreground. For more information click here.

We have the very best of Real Ales and Ciders from top craft brewers with excellent quality home cooked food available.

Situated between Poole and Bournemouth and minutes away from the finest beaches in the UK and with easy transport links, visit Beer and Bluegrass, one of the best small Festivals in the UK.

Map & Directions

Road Directions

We encourage the use of public transport and we are fortunate that Victoria School and Gardens Branksome Poole BH13 6AS is very accessible by railway and bus. Please download Map of venue on our website.

By rail Just two minutes’ walk away, Branksome Station is on the London Waterloo to Weymouth mainline. Upon exiting the station car park, cross the road and walk past Lidl in St Aldhelms Road and Lindsay Road is ahead of you. Cross at the pedestrian crossing and the entrance of Victoria School and is on the opposite side of the road. Signs will guide you to the Festival.

By bus Again a short walk away. The bus stop is Branksome (Tesco) and is outside St Aldhelms Hall BH12 1AD. More Bus (M1 & M2) and Yellow Buses (1/1c/18) from/to Poole to Bournemouth town centre run every 2/5 mins from Bournemouth to Poole Bus Station.

Air Bournemouth and Southampton Airport are both served by low cost airlines. The advantage with Southampton is that the rail station is a short walk from the Terminal, and then by taking a Weymouth bound train Branksome station is less than an hour away. If you fly into Bournemouth take the Yellow Bus 737 to Bournemouth Rail Station then train to Branksome.

Taxi Our Taxi partner is United Taxis, one of the area’s biggest fleets with an excellent service and also have seven seater taxis for groups. When you leave there is a Freephone Taxi Call button at the Tokens desk, the Taxi will then collect you from the main Entrance.

Car parking We strongly ask you not to Drink and Drive, but for designated drivers Victoria School is on Lindsay Road BH13 6AS and has ample parking. There is a one way system in operation. Enter follow signs from the main entrance and further signs will direct you to the Festival Car Parking. Please do not park in Lidl or other private car parks!

Seating

The Festival is situated in a natural amphitheater, some people prefer chairs and while we do provide a limited number of chairs if you do want to bring your own please make them the small folding type.

Camping or accommodation - update There is no camping at the Festival.

If you want to camp there are several camp sites but none close by. As last year we have agreed with our friends St Leonards Farm Park, Ferndown BH22 0AQ they have a special rate for campers going to the Festival. This is an excellent park quote ‘Beer and Bluegrass’ and please book in advance!

There are dozens of Hotels close by but if you are after a reasonable stay we would suggest Premier Inn Westcliff Poole Rd, BH2 5QU (approx 15min walk) or the newly built Travelodge Poole Hotel Holes Bay Road, Poole BH15 1LS. This is right opposite Poole Rail Station and two stops away from Branksome Station. If you are travelling from outside the area please contact us and we will give you guidance.

If you have any special requests or need more or require more information please contact us on info@beerandbluegrass.co.uk.
