A Night of Blues 'n Boogie

About

***Venue Currently Closed***

After two previous sold out shows at the Sherling Theatre, we welcome a return of ‘A wonderful and varied night of blues ‘n boogie’! Three great acts covering New Orleans Boogie Woogie, Acoustic American Roots & Blues, and Contemporary  electric Hammond organ driven Blues.

====================

DOM PIPKIN

“The soul of New Orleans in the UK” Dom Pipkin is at the forefront of piano players keeping the classic New Orleans sound alive.  His shows have taken him all over the world, including appearances alongside Allen Toussaint in New Orleans in 2014, as well as opining up for Dr John and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.  Pipkin has been featured on Radio 2 and Jazz FM specials about the history and influence of New Orleans piano, and has recorded and toured with artists from all genres including Pee Wee Ellis, Laura Mvula, Paul Weller, Ray Davies,  Paloma Faith, Eric Bibb, and David Byrne.

Mostly known for his firey interpretations of the rolling New Orleans sound, he is equally at home with hard driving boogie woogie, down home blues, and classic stride and jazz piano.

Stompin' Dave (Duo)

With twenty-five years of performing, experienced Bridport based vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and tap dancer Stompin' Dave has worked exclusively as a musician.  Dave has performed across the UK and beyond including major festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, and Camp Bestival.  A former member of former UK blues band of the year The Producers, Dave was nominated for a British Blues Award in the acoustic act category 2014.

================================

Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion refresh the blues genre with eclectic arrangements, virtuosic playing and vocal prowess.  With an exciting live set based around rootsy original songs, strong catchy riffs and exciting grooves, they mix old school tradition with contemporary flare and sophistication.

Zoe’s dynamic and commanding vocal delivery is complimented by the unmistakable touch and flow of Rob Koral-guitar, and the highly accomplished rhythm section of Pete Whittaker-Hammond organ and Paul Robinson-drums (Nina Simone, Van Morrison, Paul McCartney, Eric Bibb and more).

Each of these acts have received multi British Blues Awards.
