A Celebration of Land Rover

A Celebration of Land Rover

About

Do you own a Land Rover?  We are calling all owners to come to the Museum from Wednesday 28th November to Saturday 1st December to help us celebrate this amazing marque.  As well as inviting owners and enthusiasts we are also getting our vehicle out of the Museum exhibits so you can get up close and ask questions about the vehicles on display in the Millennium Hall.

The celebrating does not stop there we will also have specific displays in the Museum Shop and Café 750 will have a classic British menu that is just like the marque – predictable and reliable producing quality and taste food.

Every now and again humankind will show great affection for a car and the Land Rover is a prime example of this phenomenon.  There will be informal daily talks at 11.15 and 14.15 with the Museum Curator Matt Piper in the Millennium Hall.

“Basic, slow and out of production from 2016, the ‘Landie’ is a true home-grown British classic used on a global basis as, among other things: a farm hand, royal transport, war machine, peace keeper, ambulance, fire engine, load lugger…the list goes on.

Launched in 1948, the Land Rover was a child of World War 2 and grew up in austere times.  No matter; everyone loved it.  We still do.  After a 68 year production run and despite being no longer available new, it seems our fondness for the Land Rover will never die.

It is hard to think of any other utility vehicle which comes even close to the Land Rover in the way it manages to get the job done without complaining and yet capture our hearts at the same time.  Long live the Landie!”
