Poole Quay will be transformed into a fabulous waterside music venue on Saturday 29 June complete with outdoor stages hosting award winning Folk acts, street ceilidhs and morris dancing for Folk on the Quay.
Part of Poole’s Wave 105 Summertime in the South events programme, the free family Folk festival will see an outstanding line up play and dance across 2 music stages. The dancing starts at 11am with live music from 12noon until 9pm.
Developed by BCP Tourism, working with Purbeck Valley Folk Festival organisers Catherine and Paul Burke, the event includes a main stage at the roundabout on Poole Quay and the Landlubbers stage opposite the Poole Arms.
A colourful festival of morris dancing will see performances throughout the day featuring styles from across the UK plus the chance to enjoy some of the UK’s finest Appalachian step dancing originating from the mountain music of the USA. For families there will be the opportunity take part in a Ceilidh with Threepenny Bit.
Confirmed music acts during the weekend include 3 Daft Monkeys with a set full of festival favourites, the Gren Bartley Trio and Brighton based Bird in the Belly.
Visitors can enjoy the music of a salty sea dog, in the perfect location as The Wareham Whalers get the crowd hauling rope with a return to Poole’s seafaring past.
Graham Richardson, Tourism Liaison Manager, BCP Tourism, said; “Folk on the Quay brings some great folk artists to Poole with a real variety of music and styles. The combination of local and national performers brings a real festival feel to this superb location, so come and join us for a perfect sun soaked ceilidh on the Quay.”
