Come along and treasure a unique experience visiting one of the very last Heavy Horse Centres left in Great Britain. Recognised as a both a multi award-winning day out and conservation farm home to the Shire, Clydesdale, Suffolk Punch, Percheron and Ardennes.

A real farm experience for ALL ages:

We invite visitors of ALL ages to escape to the enchanting depths of Dorset and unravel the history of the faithful Heavy Horse which powered man for generations. Whether you are a family group, grandparent or young couple join us for a unique and educational experience. A full day of events are run for both adults and children which is hosted by our dedicated farm keepers.

Daily presentations: 

Enjoy a range of talks and demonstrations throughout your visit! (10.30am) Meet our herd of rare breed Heavy Horses in the morning stable feeding tour. (11.15am) Discover how to harness a cart horse with the harness demonstration. (1.00pm) Gather around the Romany caravans & discover life with the Gypsy horses. (2.00pm) Take a seat for a fascinating insight into the history of these gentle giants and story of the War Horse.

Hands on Farm Tours: 

Home to all creatures great and small including: Miniature Shetland ponies, Donkey’s, Alpacas, Iron Age pigs, Pygmy Goats, Chickens, Ducks, Ferrets, Rabbits and many more! Join our passionate farm keeper and 'muck in' feeding and learning about our friendly farm animals during daily tours. (10.40am) Little helpers can set ‘off to work’ feeding & learning about the working ponies. (11.30am) It’s all the fun of the farm with feeding all the farmyard animals on the park tour! (3.00pm) Get a real feel for the countryside with digging, planting and pulling up the veggies in the farmer’s garden!

Ride and Drive: 

All our activities and rides are included in your entry! What better way of transport than a horse-drawn vehicle?! Enjoy Heavy Horse drawn carriage rides, tractor trailer rides, tractor 'bunker' ride & miniature pony carriage rides. - A unique farm experience! 

All the fun of the farm park: 

Children can embrace their sense of adventure with: Vintage fairground rides, Adventure play park, pedal go-carts, play barns with meg drop slide, pedal tractors, play sandpit and NEW for 2022 ‘Trampoline barn!’

Close encounters:  

Enjoy close and cuddly encounters with hands of activities including animal petting and pony grooming! 

Exhibits from days gone by: 

Enjoy a trip down memory lane with a pleasant visit to the past times. Explore the WW1 Field Trenches, vintage vehicles, static canal display, Romany, and Showman’s hand painted caravans, visit the harness makers and blacksmiths workshops, vintage cider press and farmers implements from the bygone years. It’s a step back in time!  

​Smokey Joes Café: 

Our popular rustic country & western café is open 10am-3.30pm exclusively to park visitors. Smokey Joe’s serves a delicious range of homecooked food using locally sourced organic produce by dedicated resident Chef! Enjoy a variety of brunches, lunches & handmade scrumptious cakes! *We cater for vegan/gluten free/vegetarian
