Compton Acres Donates Festive Firs to Children’s Charities

Compton Acres Christmas Tree Donation
Compton Acres, one of the UK’s finest privately-owned historic gardens, has made a special donation to its favourite local charities. They have donated one of their premium-quality British-grown trees, famed for their aromatic, shiny, green needles to both the Victoria Education Centre in Poole and Julia’s House in Corfe Mullen. Decorated and ready for the season, the trees promise to bring a little magic to the charitable establishments over Christmas.

Staff from the dedicated Compton Acres Plant Centre were pleased to prepare and deliver the 7ft Christmas Trees to the two charities in person. The Victoria Education Centre is a special community charity, which educates students with physical disabilities, complex conditions and additional needs. Also receiving a tree, Julia’s House is an award-winning children’s hospice charity dedicated to bringing comfort and care to families across Dorset and Wiltshire.

A welcomed seasonal gesture, the idea to donate the trees was developed as a means for Compton Acres to give back to the local community. Compton Acres also wished to show its support for the charities which do so much to care for children and young adults in the region.

Bernard Merna, Owner of Compton Acres said:  “Real Christmas Trees remain extremely popular and this year we’ve brought in an abundance of non-drop Nordmann Firs and scented Fraser Firs to the Plant Centre. In the spirit of giving we thought it was an excellent idea to present some to our favourite local charities, so they can enjoy this most magical of festive symbols.’’

Sue Hurd from the Victoria Education Centre, said: “We are very grateful to Compton Acres for their kind donation. The beautiful tree will provide a lovely Christmas centrepiece for our centre. It certainly will make the children’s faces light up during the countdown to the big day.’’

Laura Kelly, Community Fundraising Manager at Julia’s House, said: “Our thanks go to Compton Acres for their wonderfully festive donation! All the staff, volunteers, families and children appreciate the kind gesture of support.’’

Compton Acres has five themed gardens spread over 10 acres and boasts more than three thousand species of plant from all corners of the globe. Along with its spectacular gardens, it has a Plant Centre and Gift Shop, plus a Café & Tearooms serving delicious home-made locally-sourced food.
