Date with Darcy

Darcy Ward has released details of his first public appearance at Poole since his benefit meeting last October. The former racer will be making a date for a meet and greet with fans after the Pirates v Wolverhampton match at Wimborne Road on Wednesday August 3rd.

Accompanied by partner Lizzie, the pair will be available for a one hour question and answer session in the Champs Bar from around 9.30pm that evening, where friends and fans of the Poole hero can hear first-hand from the star himself.

There is no admission fee, as Ward is keen to repay the generosity that he has been shown by the countless fundraising initiatives that have taken place on his behalf.

“The support I have received has been completely overwhelming,” says the injured star. “I want to be able to thank everyone properly and I hope that as many people as possible will come along to meet me and Lizzie at Poole. It will be great to catch up with all our friends there and I know it will be a great night.

We are planning to have a free raffle for everyone that comes, so someone will go home with a really unique souvenir.

Of course, if people want to donate to the foundation we would be delighted, but this night is not about the money, it’s about giving back.”

Ward will be visiting the UK for a short time only, attending the World Cup in Manchester and then travelling down to Dorset, where he hopes to take in a couple of Poole fixtures. However, he has a busy schedule with planned visits to Poland and Sweden on the agenda before returning home after his whistle-stop tour.
