Get funky at Poole’s Summer Breeze

Summer Breeze on the Quay 2014Funk, soul & cabaret will be headlining at Summer Breeze on Thursday 11 August.

The free family event, sponsored by Tower Park-based motor dealership Breeze Volkswagen, is part of Poole’s Wave 105’s Summertime in the Southand brings a feast of live music, street entertainment and fabulous fireworks to Poole Quay from 7pm every Thursday evening until the end of August.

Organised by Poole Tourism, enjoy a relaxed vibe with music from funk, soul and blues 5 piece Melt, supported by Mr Kyps, dance the night away with Disco Mad or enjoy soul & jazz from Bafaana at the Custom House.  Local cabaret act, GJ Cabarets will be performing a range of dancing styles from the Charleston and line dancing to rock n’ roll and Irish dancing plus performances from solo singer Helen Jenkins

John Corderoy, Managing Director of Breeze Volkswagen, said: “This has been a fantastic year for Summer Breeze which has had a real festival feel with lots of brilliant music and engaging entertainers who have been a real hit.  It has been wonderful to see all the families enjoying themselves – especially the kids who’ve had the chance to learn new skills and show off their talents in everything from hoola hoop to Maypole dancing.  It’s what summer in Poole is all about and we are really proud to be part of it.”

Budding performers can brush up on their circus skills at Jamie Jigsaw’s Circus Workshop.  Take home some top tips from the expert – fromjuggling and plate spinning, to diabolo and ribbon twirling, there will be something for all ages and all abilities.  There’s plenty more for families to do including children’s rides, a bouncy castle, unicyclists, jugglers and balloon modelling. 

During the event Poole Museum is open to the public until 9.30pm.  With free entry, find out about Poole’s rich history.  The event concludes with a firework finale over Poole Harbour at 9.30pm.
