Polo, the Sport of Kings reunites with Sandbanks the Treasure of the South Coast

Top Polo Players are set to take centre stage this summer for the world’s largest beach polo event in Poole as the British Beach Polo Championships 2016 returns to the spectacular Sandbanks Beach in Dorset on July 8th/9th for a weekend of awe-inspiring polo.

The cream of the world’s polo circuit are already gearing up for the spectacular event, which this year brings a new arena layout to the golden beaches, along with an exciting line-up of after party DJ’s and entertainment.

The high adrenalin sporting event wows spectators within a temporary polo arena, grandstand and marquees, accommodating up to 3000 people and each day 72 polo ponies take pride of place overlooking Poole Bay and Old Harry Rocks.

‘Sandpolo’ Event Director, Johnny Wheeler said: “After nine successful years the beach polo is now a well-established regional event. Sandbanks is the perfect setting and the formula for combining this exhilarating sport with social and business interaction seems to be just right.

“For those who have never witnessed arena polo it’s likened to ice hockey on horseback. The action is fast and furious verging on gladiatorial, the spectators are up close and personal and due to the confined area it can get pretty physical at times.”

An exciting new layout has been created with everything orientated towards the polo arena. The hospitality and VIP marquees are pitch side with vistas to the sea giving guests a fantastic view of all the action from the polo arena from their private terraces. In the evening the marquees will be merged to form one big party area.

This year the UK’s youngest polo players will take to the arena to show off their equestrian skills and treat audiences to an exhibition match. There will be a 4x4 race against a champion polo pony and England ladies beach volleyball team will take on Poland.

Sandpolo Ambassador, model and polo player, Jodie Kidd commented: “You simply cannot beat the polo at Sandbanks, it gathers some of the world’s top polo players together on a wonderful blue flag beach in July for some exceptional polo, a great party atmosphere and a fashionable crowd dancing to top DJ’s on the beach.”

When the hard working polo ponies are tucked up and the sun goes down DJ Shiftk3y and 99 Souls will re-energise the beach on the Friday night with iconic DJ Trevor Nelson and DJ Charles headlining the Saturday after party.  On both evenings guests will be able to express their guilty pleasure in the Disco Fever marquee.

From VIP to General Admission Sandpolo 2016 will be a weekend to remember.

Hospitality tickets £165.00, VIP start at £50, General admission starts at £25.00.
