Shoppers flock to the Dolphin Centre to bag a bargain before Christmas

The Dolphin Centre has seen a marked increase in shoppers making last-minute purchases ahead of this year’s festive season, according to the centre’s footfall figures.

Dolphin Shopping Centre News 2015With an estimated 12.6 million Britons expected to have hit the high streets on Saturday  December 19, the last Saturday before Christmas, the Dolphin Centre was busy with shoppers – with queues forming outside of Pandora before its opening at 9am.

Christened ‘Panic Saturday’ across the country, retailers including Beales, M&S, Saltrock, Boots, Animal and Next were able to take advantage of a sudden surge in shopper numbers to Poole.

Figures confirmed that Saturday December 19 saw an increase of more than three per cent from the preceding Saturday, which saw 43,000 shoppers head to the centre to finish their Christmas shopping.

John Grinnell, centre manager, said: “The centre has been extremely busy in the lead up to Christmas, experiencing huge numbers of shoppers coming to find their perfect Christmas gifts for loved ones. I think our figures show that versatility in the choice of retailers at the centre can challenge the common misconception that the internet is more popular for Christmas shopping.

“Being able to browse a variety of retailers, and look at a range of products can give shoppers much-needed reassurance that they are selecting the right products.”
