Wave 105’s Mission Christmas smashes its 2015 toy target

Wave 105 Cash for Kids Xmas appeal 2015The Wave 105 Cash for Kids link will open in new window team is thrilled to announce that a staggering 78,382 presents have been donated for this year’s Mission Christmas toy appeal. Gifts have been received from across the south and are currently being delivered ahead of Christmas Day to underprivileged children throughout the region.

The annual appeal was launched this November to encourage charity supporters, listeners and local businesses to donate new and unwrapped gifts to be distributed in time for Christmas Day to children up to the age of 18 who are living in poverty and would not normally receive a present.

With support from sponsors Foresters the Financial Services Provider and David Gale the Specialist Orthodontic Referral Centre and partners Sainsbury’s, Pickfords and Doddle, the 2015 Mission Christmas appeal has exceeded its target to deliver 64,000 toys.

Wave 105 Cash for Kids charity manager, Gloria Hill, says: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received so many gifts for Mission Christmas. Every year we’re overwhelmed with the generosity of people, and this year our expectations have once again been exceeded.

“On behalf of everyone at Wave 105 Cash for Kids, we would like to say a huge thank you to every single person that dropped a present off to one of our collection points across the south. There were also those that took the time to make gifts, and children that used their pocket money to buy gifts for those less fortunate than themselves.  As well as individuals, there were plenty of businesses and organisations that got involved too by raising vital funds and donating presents.”

Martin Ball, managing director at Wave 105, adds: “There have been so many heart-warming acts this Mission Christmas appeal. As well as those that gave gifts, we’d like to thank our many volunteers who have spent their time sorting through all of the presents received. Thank you on behalf of us and the charities we support to every single person who got involved, because of so many acts of kindness, there are many less fortunate children who will wake up this Christmas morning with a smile knowing that someone took the time to think of them.”

Wave 105 Cash for Kids supports local children, under the age of 18 who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically disadvantaged. Since its launch in November 2008, the charity has helped to raise over three million pounds.
