MAYOR CONGRATULATES POOLE PIRATES

The Mayor of Poole formally congratulated Poole Pirates on their success this season during a private ceremony held yesterday.

The Elite League champions were invited to meet the Mayor, Cllr Joyce Lavender, in her parlour where she spoke to team members about their recent triumph.

Following a short speech by the Mayor, the Speedway riders were presented with a beautifully inscribed commemorative Poole Pottery plate.

Cllr Joyce Lavender, Borough of Poole, said: “We are extremely pleased to have the team here today. On behalf of Borough of Poole I’d like to congratulate them for their tremendous achievement.”

Cllr Brian Leverett, Leader of the Council, said: “Poole Pirates continue to be a real asset to the town and we are delighted once again to acknowledge their accomplishments.”

Matt Ford, owner and promoter of Poole Pirates, said: “I’d like to thank the Mayor for inviting us here today and for the council’s support. We are immensely proud of our success this season.”
