Their remit is all about creating jobs and boosting the local tourism economy – they want Dorset’s tourism industry to steal a march in the county’s economic recovery - read on to find out how they could be of benefit you.

What do they do? Funded by Central Government with investment from Bournemouth University and Bournemouth Borough Council, the academy is spear-headed by the local industry. They offer Dorset businesses a unique tourism resource right on the doorstep.

Central to their agenda is top customer service - providing visitors with an outstanding experience to generate more repeat business and word-of-mouth recommendations, and increased visitor spend.  To this end they have recruited scores of ‘ambassadors’ and ‘scouts’ who reward great service and hospitality, to drive up standards.  Get in touch with Natalie.tye@coastaltourismacademy.co.uk for details.

The Digital Hub Bournemouth University regularly offers training and advice on emarketing and social networking.

Social Media is well on the way to becoming a mainstream marketing tool.  A training session took place with Dr P Alford, Director, Digital Hub, Bournemouth University primarily for those partners already currently utilising social  media but not realising its full potential.  Aimed to give a snapshot of why social media should be a priority in your marketing mix, and how to define and implement your strategy, the course gave an overview of the importance of e-marketing and looked at  tools available  to help you at no extra cost.
