Lanterns at the GuildhallJoin local school children for a seasonal lantern procession through the High Street followed by carols and mince pies at the historic Guildhall.

Poole's traditional lantern parade will be illuminating the streets of Poole Town Centre on Thursday 7 December.  Sponsored by the Dolphin Shopping Centre, the event sees Poole Town Centre transformed into a beacon of light as children from Poole parade down the High Street with lanterns and  illuminated works of art.

Children from local Poole schools have worked with local artist, Caroline Rackham, over the last few months to design lanterns illuminated by LED lights. The creations this year are made by schools from Old Town, Oakdale and Lilliput. Lanterns are also being made by members of the public that attended workshops held at Poole Museum. The Men’s Shed in Poole has created an illuminated design for the front of the procession.

The Lantern Parade is free to attend and open to all members of the public. The procession leaves Falkland Square at 6pm on Thursday December 7 and will travel down the High Street with the Poole Sea Cadets link will open in new window Marching Band, to the Guildhall to join the Old Town Conservation Group and St. James’ Church Choir for carols. The Quayside Emporium is set to provide mince pies.
