About the event:

The Festival of Diversity takes place on Saturday 11th September from 12pm - 4pm at Boscombe Chine Gardens.

The event is a creative way to celebrate 10 years of Bournemouth People First.

 

The Festival of Diversity; is open to the public and will celebrate the lives, abilities, history (last 200 years) and culture of people with learning disabilities in Bournemouth. The event will bring together the community to understand the expertise, skills and talents of people with learning disabilities in Bournemouth. As well as celebrating Bournemouth People Firsts achievements and the continuation of our inspirational work.

 

The Festival of Diversity is unique and educational because it will be the first of it’s kind to be run by people with learning disabilities(with limited support) to include:

 

Exhibition about the history of people with learning disabilities

 

Art exhibitions of the work of learning disabled artist i.e. ceramics and jewellery

 

Stalls

 

Learning Disabled DJ’s that have also performed at Camp Bestival 09 and 10

 

Tombola and other games

 

Arts and craft stalls

 

Plant stalls

 

Face painting

 

Catering i.e. cream teas / BBQ from a range of projects across Bournemouth

 

A range of workshops run by people with learning disabilities from across Bournemouth:

 

Ceramics

Beading

Dance

Drama

Drumming
