Enjoy a stimulating and inspiring programme of events as Poole plays host to a wealth of literary talent. With over 30 acclaimed writers, 50 events including talks, workshops, book signings, discussion panels, candle lit story telling, interactive writing, a Drop in Day for Young People, Play in a Day, Murder Mystery fish & chip supper and Performance Poetry at it's best, there really is something for everyone of all ages to enjoy.
Guests include former Children's laureate Michael Morpurgo , Britain's First Female Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy , crime writer Minette Walters , authors Gervase Phinn, Deborah Moggach & Mavis Cheek , children's authors Ali Sparkes, Nicky Singer & Andy Lane, Performance Poets, Elvis McGonagall and Luke Wright.
Dorset Delights will highlight local authors, including Paul Atterbury ((Antiques Roadshow), Sarah Challis , Andy Mcdermott , Daisy Goodwin , Joe Hashman & Kit Berry, plus music, live art and a Delicious Dorset Cream Tea!
Writer David Gaffney is collecting the anonymous confessions of the people of Poole to turn them into micro-stories. He will perform the stories in in a custom built mobile confessional box in Poole Dolphin Shopping Centre & Lighthouse Poole's centre for the Arts, as part of the Poole Literary Festival. Look out for the box and join the queue! After hearing a story the listener will decide on an appropriate penance and the penances will be posted on the Poole confessions website. To kick things off in style we have a 'Glittery Literary Lunch' in the sumptuous seaside restaurant Branksome Beach Cafe. Guest speakers will include Adele Parks, Imogen Parker & Katie Fforde , also on the menu fabulous 2 course lunch and an indulgent goody bag to take home - sounds good enough to eat!
